past 27 years, Julie King, owner of Rota Productions has been
producing the Rota Psychic and Crystal Fair. A mainstay of the
community, this is the event for experiencing real intuitive
guidance, alternative healing therapies, great information and our
wonderfully diverse spiritual community.
This
Fall fair is the first weekend of Oct at the Monterey Fairgrounds.
(2004 fairgrounds Road, Monterey, Ca 93940). We are thrilled to be at
this location in the Monterey and Art Rooms of the Fairgrounds! If
you have not been to the Monterey Fairgrounds before now, you are in
for a treat! This is home to other top events like the Monterey Jazz
Festival, Blues Festival and, of course, the award-winning Monterey
County Fair.

Many
people ask about the name and history of this long time event. The
story begins in the early 1980's at Monterey Peninsula College when a
free university used to hold a small psychic fair. When the
university closed its doors, 7 tarot enthusiasts came together to
fill the void and produced the first ROTA festival on the Summer
Solstice in 1984. This group chose the name "ROTA: to represent"
the Road
Of
Transformation
Arts
and is also an anagram for the word"tarot".
After
this first event, Ruby Grace and Julie King took over the
organization for the fair. Two years later Ruby moved on to other
opportunities and Julie King has been the producer since that time.
Two of the original "Rotarians", James Wanless and Sharon
Lee Dalkey are regular participants. Through the years thousands of
people from all over the country have participated in the Rota
Psychic Festival and many of the vendors, readers and healers have
been regulars for these past 26 years. A true community event!
In
previous years the fair was held on the last weekend of October and
the first weekend of May. We have changed the fall date to the
beginning of the month. One of the reasons for the change is to
capture the essence of the fall equinox and the longer daylight
hours. So are last few fairs have been the first weekend of October!
